BARONESS Tour Bus Crash: BBC NEWS Video Report Available
August 15, 2012A two-minute BBC News video report on the road accident that resulted in BARONESS's tour bus plunging more than 30 feet down an embankment near Bath, England can be seen below.
According to Mirror.co.uk, the accident occurred when the 52-seater bus smashed through a fence near a viaduct in heavy rain and careered down a densely wooded bank onto a road below.
Two of the nine passengers on board — who were trapped and had to be rescued by firefighters using hydraulic cutting equipment — suffered fractures and seven others were hospitalized for minor injuries, officials said.
A mechanic who works nearby told Mirror.co.uk, "It looks like the coach has gone through the traffic lights, skidded through a fence and fallen onto the road below.
"It's a sheer drop. The coach managed to land on its wheels — but it was a mess.
"The front of it was completely caved in and there was a lot of damage to the back too.
"There were paramedics on the scene treating people."
Inspector Steve Mildren said: "We know that there were nine passengers on the coach.
"They have all been accounted for and there are some injuries and they are receiving medical treatment at hospital.
"At this time we don't believe that any of those injuries are life-threatening.
"It had been raining really heavily, as it has been for much of the day."
The band played at The Fleece in Bristol last night. They were on their way to Southampton when the accident happened.
